The Journal of Integrative Dermatology is excited to request submissions for its inaugural issue. The Journal of Integrative Dermatology is focused on interdisciplinary perspectives that expand our knowledge and evidence in the field of integrative medicine and dermatology. The aim and the scope of the journal is to publish articles on information concerning the skin and external and internal factors that modulate its function, health, and disease.

The interest in approaching medicine from multiple perspectives has grown immensely and the need for evidence-based reporting is more imperative than ever before. The need for integrative complementary and alternative approaches into medical care is more important than ever and the role of the dermatologist and dermatology related care providers are vital in delivering this care. With the ongoing epidemic of general chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, it is critical that we have good evidence that will help advance the evidence around lifestyle and complementary based approaches along with pharmaceutical approaches. Dermatology is a space where this critical evidence is needed with chronic conditions like adult acne, rosacea, hidradenitis suppurativa, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis that critically depend on integrative approaches. High quality evidence around mind-body, dietary, gut health, microbiome, and complementary approaches are needed to help all stakeholders make better decisions for integrative health practices and guidelines.

We invite you to submit your manuscripts! Topics may include but not limited to: efficacy and effectiveness based research, cost based analyses, education and survey based investigations, and practice management and guideline based research. We strongly believe in supporting practitioner education and each of these submissions will have associated continuing medical education that is developed when appropriate.

The following formats are accepted for submissions:

  • Prospective studies that can be either brief communications or full communications.
  • Review articles in the form of targeted reviews, systematic reviews or meta-analyses.
  • “Practical Pearls” type articles that describe an expert and evidence-supported approach approach to the practical treatment of clinical disease
  • Perspective, Opinions, or Commentary articles that allow authors to present a personal opinion, point of view, theory, hypothesis, interpretation of a topic or an existing study.
  • Case series that describe a series of patients with a novel approach to treatment that is also described in the context of existing evidence and a summary of the existing medical literature and mechanisms to support the approach with patient care.

If you have any questions or ideas in regards to this special issue, please feel free to send comments and questions to info@jintegrativederm.com via our Editor-in-Chief.
